CABIN MODE –
We had a wonderful time and several fun memories with the
rain, traffic detours, and training. Thank you to all the instructors
that helped make another camp weekend the success it’s been for the past 20
years. We had about 25 students come, train, and have a great time this year.
Class Cancellation-
Classes Friday night (Sept. 4th) & Saturday
morning (Sept. 5th) are canceled for the Labor Day Weekend.
George is still planning Sunday morning.
Schedule Adjustment Reminder -
Well, the new schedule we started in August for Wednesday
evening doesn’t seem to be working out that well so we will go back to the old
schedule. Kid’s class will start at 5:45 p.m. and the adult class as close to
6:30 as possible. The adult class will finish at 7:30 again. This change
back will begin September 9th so everyone gets the chance to read
this and make the adjustment.
FALL CAMP
–
My attendance at the camp & Nationals meeting with
Sensei last Wednesday night was a bit of embarrassment for me as he mentioned
in front of the entire committee that Chester County had only 2 students sign
up to attend. I realize this is a really hard economy and spending money
on events like this is difficult to justify. If it is at all possible
that you can swing fall camp this year I would greatly appreciate the
sacrifice.
Again camp is September 11- 13th and you can
register when you arrive.
ALL (another reminder) -
Summer is the time where student attendance and loss of students are the
greatest. This summer has been no different. Please, please take
care of the financial end of the business for the good of the club and get your
dues in on time. Also, with the loss of more than 10 students we would really
like to see if you could find a few new ones come this fall.
U.S.
Nationals –
As most of you are already aware the East Coast is hosting
this year’s National event in Cherry Hill N.J on Nov. 14th & 15th.
Also many of you have already been approached and know that Sensei Okazaki was
so impressed with how we ran the regionals that he personally ask us to run the
rings at his tournament. It appears that they wish to run 6 rings this
time so I’ll need two more crews to assist. The 6 ring managers that I’ll
require to come back on Sunday to run the one ring will be given free rooms on
Saturday night as well as free entrance to the banquet. I’m hoping Kevin, Geri,
Russ, and Kevin Smith will return as managers. I’ll need two more willing
to take on that responsibility.
I will have a sign up sheet on the bulletin board sometime
this month for those willing to volunteer as ring assistants, score keepers,
time keepers, and wranglers. This will be only for one day (Saturday) and
as before you will be assigned to the ring your friend or family member is
competing in.
Nationals Competitors –
Registration deadline is October 2nd. I will have
packets at the dojo and again a link on our website to download what you
require. I will need all registration, t-shirt, banquet, etc. paperwork
no later than September 28th.
